As soon as you walk in the front door, you will see the footprints. Large white cutouts with names, love songs and the occasional swear words. Look closer. They were left by travelers, much like you, who have visited the Rum Doodle and left their mark and advice for those that come after them. These footprints have been collected over a period of twenty years and speak volumes, In fact every footprint is a story in itself.

Behind the bar counter are square wooden boxes with glass fronts and many signatures. These boxes are a tribute to those heroes of mountaineering-that select club of Everest summiteers. Started many years ago around the autograph of Sir Ed. Hillary, the numbers have grown to include Uemura, Messner, Tabei, Ang Rita Sherpa, Rob Hall, Gary Ball and many others to form the largest collection of signatures of Everest Summiteers in the world. But, we have played host to other people as well. Former U. S President Jimmy Carter and Rosalyn Carter were here. Former Japanese premier Ryutaro Hashimoto visits frequently. Lood out for their signatures among a host of others. Famous notorious or otherwise.
